Art

At Redlands Primary School, we aim to inspire creativity and self-expression through a rich and engaging Art and Design curriculum. We follow the Kapow Primary scheme, which offers a well-structured progression of skills across a variety of artistic disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, and digital media.

Pupils explore and learn about influential artists, designers, and significant works of art, developing their understanding of artistic styles, techniques, and cultural contexts. We place a strong emphasis on teaching drawing skills, with structured lessons that build progressively over time. Regular practice of fundamental techniques allows pupils to confidently apply their skills and knowledge to create their own original artwork by the end of each unit.

Our curriculum encourages pupils to experiment, take creative risks, and express their ideas with increasing independence, fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
